About

AAUW Seattle Branch is comprised of more than 80 members from Seattle and surrounding communities who are dedicated to advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and philanthropy. Our members come from all walks of life. Some have their own businesses, some work full or part time, and some are retired. There are many opportunities for fun, friendship and personal growth. We welcome new members to join with us. We meet each month from September through May, featuring interesting programs, events and activities. Our meetings are open to the public.

AAUW Seattle Branch is part of a strong National and Statewide group of politically active women and men who make our voices heard in both Washington, DC and Olympia, through online tools as well as an annual Lobby Day in Olympia.

Seattle Branch raises money for AAUW Funds, which provides more scholarships for women in higher education than any other organization in the world. AAUW Funds also provides the nation’s largest Legal Advocacy Fund focused solely on sex discrimination in the workplace.

Seattle Branch encourages young women and girls to experience STEM activities that may lead to professional careers by supporting the Seattle Expanding Your Horizons, Tech Trek, and High School Scholar Recognition programs.

Seattle Branch is also partnered with the UW Women’s Center, providing free $tart $mart Salary Negotiation Workshops. We also sponsor students to attend the National Collegiate Conference for Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) and participate in the Alene Moris NEW Leadership program.

Seattle Branch also has a number of interest groups — ArtSmart (art appreciation group), a writing group, and a book group.
